What to do on a Rainy Day in Malta

Regardless of the Weather, You can Still Enjoy Your Holiday in Malta

We’re constantly boasting about having sunshine all year round but, on the off days, it does get dull and dreary. Although this does not happen often, don’t let the rain spoil your fun.

We’re here to tell you that you can enjoy Malta in any weather – at any time of the year. Here are our tips on what you can do when it’s a rainy day in Malta.

Drive Around and Explore

Malta’s best places can only be found with a little bit of exploring. So, why not hire a car and drive around the narrow streets of the island’s villages? You can even take a trip to Dingli Cliffs and watch the rain drizzle with a view. If you don’t mind walking in the rain, you can even go exploring by foot to places such as Bahrija, Marsaxlokk, Mellieha and the Three Cities of Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa.

Visit the Malta National Aquarium in Qawra

And it’s so close to your accommodation too! If you booked your stay at the AX Seashells Resort at Suncrest, the Malta National Aquarium is less than ten minutes away by foot. The aquarium has around 41 tanks including reptiles, insects and amphibians, amongst other Mediterranean fish. It’s the ideal family outing and it includes parking, a public garden, a beach club and diving school facilities.

Experience Malta’s capital city of Valletta

2018 is a big year for Valletta. Being the European Capital City of Culture, events and activities are constantly happening in the capital. You can visit the various museums around Valletta such as the Malta Postal Museum, the National Museum of Archaeology and the Malta Toy Museum. There is something for everything.

Grab a Coffee and Relax

If there’s something we Maltese love to do is go for coffee when it’s raining. You can find a variety of exciting coffee shops around the island. If you happen to be in Valletta, you can visit is-Suq tal-Belt, the newly refurbished food court. Mdina and Sliema are good places to visit for coffee and cake. If you want to stay within walking distance of your accommodation at Seashells, why not try Cheeky Monkey for a coffee, drinks and nibbles?

Enjoy a Cosy Dinner

There’s nothing more heart-warming than good food. If you’ve finished visiting the capital, there are a number of hang-outs that you can try whilst you’re there. If it’s pouring outside and you want to stay in Qawra, you can visit Cheeky Monkey for a glorious burger, Tal-Kaptan for delicious pizza and pasta, or even stay inside the Seashells Resort and enjoy a meal at its official restaurant, The Coral Cove.
